Presbyterian Night Shelter is known for serving the homeless in greatest need: those who have no other places to go.  Those who present the greatest challenge to our community are welcome here. As the largest homeless shelter in Tarrant County, we serve approximately 1,000 men, women and children each night. Objective

The Senior Director of Donor Engagement is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive individual giving program that deepens donor relationships, strengthens fundraising communications, and maximizes campaign and event performance. This role shapes the donor experience at every level—from annual and monthly giving to mid-level and major gifts—and leads donor-centered storytelling and engagement strategies. Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer, the Senior Director joins a tight-knit, mission-driven team committed to advancing Presbyterian Night Shelter’s work to end homelessness through shelter, housing, and employment. This position supervises the Donor Engagement Manager and Director of Communications and plays a key role in driving sustainable philanthropic growth.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive individual giving strategy, including annual, monthly, mid-level, and major donor campaigns.
  • Oversee the execution of donor engagement initiatives such as North Texas Giving Day, direct mail appeals, and the annual gala.
  • Supervise and coach the Donor Engagement Manager and Director of Communications, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
  • Manage a personal portfolio of donors, ensuring thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans are in place.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Director of Philanthropy to ensure cohesive fundraising efforts across individual and institutional giving streams.
  • Guide the creation of compelling donor-centered content and multichannel communications that drive giving and deepen emotional connection to the mission.
  • Use data and analytics to evaluate campaign performance, donor trends, and engagement metrics to inform strategy and drive results.
  • Represent the development department in internal and external meetings, ensuring the donor voice and experience are embedded across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, donor communications, or nonprofit leadership, including supervision of staff or direct reports.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and executing multichannel donor engagement campaigns and fundraising appeals.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and storytelling skills with the ability to craft compelling, donor-centered messaging.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency with CRMs (Raiser’s Edge NXT preferred), digital marketing platforms, and data-informed fundraising strategy.
  • Excellent relationship-building and customer service skills; ability to engage a wide range of donors with empathy, professionalism, and emotional intelligence.
  • Passion for the mission of Presbyterian Night Shelter and a deep commitment to serving underserved and vulnerable populations.
  • Flexibility to work occasional early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
